Dentists also give many injections on a daily basis, 1000’s per year in fact! This vast experience with the technique obviously makes us ideal people to do these treatments.

Choose your practitioner wisely….

All treatments are carried out by Dr. Stephanie Phillips (GDC number: 209720). Anti-wrinkle/Botox® Injections

Anti-Wrinkle/Botox® injections - Summary

Before & After - Crow's Feet

Before 1After 1Anti-wrinkle injections are commonly referred to as ‘Botox®’, short for Botulinum toxin.

This is a naturally occurring protein that causes the muscles of the face to relax, consequently smoothing out wrinkles. It is the UK’s most popular cosmetic treatment for the removal of wrinkles.

Who should have Anti-wrinkle injections?

They are the treatment of choice for people who have forehead lines, frown lines or wrinkles around their eyes that they wish to diminish.

What will the treatment involve?

The treatment will involve making a series of small injections into the muscles of your face. The injection process itself will only take several minutes.

Does it hurt?

The procedure is largely pain free. There will be mild discomfort, which is experienced due to the small needle injection involved. You may notice some soreness in the injection site directly after the treatment, but this should subside quickly.

Are anti-wrinkle injections safe?

Botulinum toxin has been in medical use for more than four decades, and it is administered in such a way that it only affects your muscles and sweat glands – it does not reach any other part of the body. As long as a qualified professional administers it, the risks are extremely minimal.

What happens after treatment?

You can carry on with your day as normal, although we advise that you avoid strenuous activity/saunas/other facial treatments for up to 24 hours.

After 4-10 days you will notice an improvement in your lines/wrinkles, and this result will last approximately 4-6 months.

What areas can benefit from an anti-wrinkle injection?

Anti – wrinkle injections are most effective when used to reduce the signs of ageing in the following places:

    • Forehead/brow
    • Between the eyes
    • Sides of the eyes

How long do the effects of an anti-wrinkle injection last?

The results usually last for around four to six months, after which you may wish to return for another treatment.

Is ‘Botox’ the only option for people who want to get rid of their wrinkles?

No, there are various options. It may be that dermal fillers, Skinboosters® or Dermaroller® treatments are possible alternatives for you.

Our consultation session will help you determine which treatment is suitable for you.

What are the possible side effects?

Most side effects are short-lived and mild, the most common being mild bruising to the site of the injection. Some patients also report mild headaches shortly after the treatment, but these usually subside within 24 hours.

Cautions / contraindications

You should not have this treatment if:

    • The injection site is infected
    • You are allergic to any of the ingredients
    • You are pregnant or breastfeeding
    • You have a neuromuscular disorder (e.g. myasthenia gravis).

Please note: Any injectable procedure will only be undertaken after your face-to-face consultation with Stephanie, during which a full assessment will be carried out and full list of cautions and contraindications discussed.

Facial/Lip Fillers

Facial Fillers - Summary

Before & After - Nose-to-Mouth Lines

Fillers

Fillers

What is facial filler?

Facial fillers (also known as dermal fillers) use a natural gel to smooth out wrinkles, folds or scars to give your face a younger, refreshed more plumped appearance.

Dermal filler is a naturally occurring hyaluronic acid gel that is injected into the face to smooth wrinkles and folds (especially around the nose and mouth). It is also used to plump out scars/dents in the face and to define and enhance lips, or define and plump out cheeks.

At Orchard House Dental Care we only use quality, reputable non-permanent products that have been tried and tested.

What will it involve?

Stephanie will inject small quantities of filler into the areas where you have lines/wrinkles or indents. The filler contains local anaesthetic, which makes the process relatively painless. It should take approximately 20 minutes and the effects are instant.

What is the result?

Smoothed out lines and wrinkles, producing an instant effect that will leave your face feeling younger, fresher and looking more youthful than ever before. Most patients need one treatment and the results last about 9 months to 1 year.

How can a facial filler treatment help me?

Dermal fillers can reduce the visibility of wrinkles, creases and lines around the following areas:

    • Forehead
    • Nose
    • Mouth
    • Cheeks

Are dermal fillers safe?

Yes, as long as a qualified professional administers them. The hyaluronic gel is completely natural, and over time will slowly dissolve, causing no harm to you.

What are the possible side effects?

Most side effects are mild and temporary e.g. redness, mild pain, slight swelling.

Cautions / contraindications

You should not have fillers if you have severe allergies, are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Please note: Any injectable procedure will only be undertaken after your face-to-face consultation with Stephanie, during which a full assessment will be carried out and full list of cautions and contraindications discussed.

PDO ThreadLifting

PDO (Polydioxonone) Threads are an effective cosmetic technique that lifts and tightens sagging skin tissues by inducing collagen production. This lifting method involves the implantation of multiple, fine Polydioxanone (PDO) threads, into the subcutaneous layer of the skin which creates a vectorial network that acts as support for the tissue. PDO Threads have been widely used in the medical field for over a decade.

Once implanted into the skin, the threads produce an immediate, visible lifting effect while also supporting natural collagen production. After the short (30-90 minute) procedure, your skin will feel rejuvenated, bringing vitality, elasticity and a brighter complexion. The lifting effect is at its peak after six months via biological (enzymatic) absorption or hydrolysis, from there the threads will be absorbed into the body leaving new collagen in their place.

PDO is an extremely safe material used regularly in heart surgery which encourages cell cohesion. PDO is safe to use and does not produce allergic reactions, skin rejection and does not produce any side effects. PDO produces fibrosis in the surrounding area, giving rise to the creation of type I and II collagen.

WHAT IS A PDO THREAD TREATMENT

Our treatments use the highest quality CE marked PDO  Threads and are provided by individually trained practitioners. The treatments are designed to treat individual patients with individual concerns. The threads are placed in or just under the skin and stimulate the production of your own collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid. They also stimulate the development of new blood vessels and improve lymphatic drainage giving a better skin quality with a smoother brighter appearance. The results start immediately and will continue to improve for 6-8 months, and can last up to 18 months.

BEFORE & AFTER

Jawline, Jowl & Marionette Line Treatment

The Collagen produced will provide tension and firmness which will help tighten and lift the skin tissue. Elastin will give the skin elasticity associated with youthful skin and the Hyaluronic Acid binds water giving an enhanced hydration. This combination of effects gives an amazing rejuvenation to ageing skin and helps to reverse and slow the ageing process in skin.

Intraline Threads have a powerful dual effect. The first is to give immediate tightening of the skin. The second is to stimulate the body’s own ability to generate Collagen, Elastin and Hyaluronic Acid (HA).

  • Collagen is a protein responsible for the tension and firmness of skin
  • Elastin is responsible for skin firmness and elasticity
  • Hyaluronic Acid (HA) causes skin to rehydrate, stimulating Hyaluronic Acid (HA) production, results in improved skin moisture and the reduction in fine lines and wrinkles

Restylane SkinBoosters®

Restylane SkinBoosters® - Summary

Before & After - Acne Scarring

Before AcneAfter Acnelogo-restylane

Skinboosters® are a brand new approach to nourishing your skin, especially designed to deliver deep skin hydration.

This means increasing hydration levels within the skin to deliver lasting moisturisation and improvements on the skin surface.

As we age, the quality of the hyaluronic acid naturally found in our skin diminishes. Skinboosters® treatment involves replenishing and rehydrating the skin using microinjections of hyaluronic acid (HA).

The stabilized HA continues to work over several months and offers a subtle, gradual change in skin quality and elasticity. What you get is a natural but noticeably invigorated look to skin.

Skinboosters® can be used as a stand-alone treatment but can be used in combination with other aesthetic treatments such as dermal fillers or Dermaroller®.

Dermaroller ®

Dermaroller® - Summary

logo-dermarollerDermaroller® is specifically designed to improve the appearance of skin with wrinkles, stretch marks, acne scars and sun damage. Try a genuine Dermaroller® treatment for smoother, brighter, and more youthful skin.

What is Dermaroller®?

Dermaroller® (also known as micro-needling) can be used to treat face and body and provides an effective way to reduce the visibility of lines, wrinkles, acne scars, stretch marks, and sun damage. It is a well-known, hugely popular treatment that gives outstanding results within four to six weeks. Better still, your skin will continue to improve over the months that follow!

How many treatments will I need?

We generally recommend a course of four treatments (roughly one treatment every six weeks).

What is it used for?

The Dermaroller® procedure can help improve the appearance of stretch marks (anywhere on the body), wrinkles, fine lines, sun damage and acne scars.

What does the Dermaroller® treatment involve?

To begin with, Stephanie will use a topical anaesthetic cream to numb your skin before treatment commences. Once the anaesthetic has taken effect, the Dermaroller® will be rolled over your skin, puncturing it with thousands of tiny micro-needles. By causing mild damage to your skin in this way, we trigger a healing process that rejuvenates the skin, encourages collagen production, and reduces the appearance of lines, wrinkles and imperfections.

Does it hurt?

It IS uncomfortable - however the anaesthetic helps to minimise any discomfort caused by the micro-needles.

How long will it take?

One Dermaroller® session lasts for around 40 minutes, although this may vary depending on which part of your body we treat. For example, a hand or neckline treatment will take less time than a facial treatment and a lot of that time is allowing the anaesthetic to take full effect.

Who is this procedure suitable for?

Dermaroller® is suitable for all skin types. However, it can cause sensitive skin to become irritated, so it may not be appropriate for people who suffer from skin allergies.

Dermaroller® is unsuitable for pregnant/breastfeeding women.

Please note: Any procedure will only be undertaken after your face-to-face consultation with Stephanie, during which a full assessment will be carried out and full list of cautions and contraindications discussed.

Hyperhidrosis

Hyperhidrosis - Summary

logo-hyperhidrosis-support-groupDo you suffer from embarrassing sweat patches or overly perspire from the head?

Hyperhidrosis is the medical term for excessive sweating. Perspiration is a perfectly normal bodily function, and sweat plays an important role in moderating the body’s temperature. However, hyperhidrosis sufferers sweat more than necessary, and this can be both uncomfortable and - if sweat patches become visible - embarrassing.

Injections of botulinum toxin - ‘Botox®’ - are the recommended treatment for hyperhidrosis. This is a safe, well-established treatment and has been used for many years. The toxin works by preventing the sweat glands from producing sweat.

Using a very small needle, a series of injections of botulinum toxin are injected into each armpit or the scalp. Treatment takes approximately 30 minutes.

You will notice an improvement within 7 days. Effects usually last approximately 6 months.

What are the possible side effects?

This is a well-established, safe procedure. Common side effects, such as bruising and swelling at the injection site, are temporary and should disappear within 48 hours of the procedure.

Cautions / contraindications

Botox® is not suitable for pregnant or breastfeeding women. Do not undergo this procedure if you are allergic to any of the ingredients in Botox® or if you have a neuromuscular disorder (such as myasthenia gravis) or an infection around the injection site.

Please note: Any injectable procedure will only be undertaken after your face-to-face consultation with Stephanie, during which a full assessment will be carried out and full list of cautions and contraindications discussed.

Chronic Migraine Treatment

Stephanie has had training from the National Migraine Centre in treating Migraines with Botox®. If this is something you are suffering from and would like to talk to Stephanie about this treatment please contact us.

Using a very small needle, a series of injections of botulinum toxin are made in the forehead, temples and back of the head. Treatment takes approximately 30 minutes.
